Obituary of Aleem Hosein Ibrahim
Aleem “the dream” Ibrahim - It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Aleem Hosein Ibrahim. Aleem passed away peacefully on March 2, 2020 in the Hospice Halifax after a very short battle with cancer.
Aleem was born in Port of Spain, Trinidad & Tobago on December 18, 1948. He came to Canada in1967 to live with his oldest brother, Talim and sister-in-law, Dorothy and to eventually complete a Math degree at Dalhousie University. Aleem is known by all as a lover of soccer, having coached and managed many teams through Halifax Dunbrack Soccer Club as well as Clayton Park Junior High. He will also be remembered as a fabulous cook of Trinidadian food, having offered up delicious “Trini” specialties at the Halifax Seaport Market under the name of Doubles Plus.
Aleem was preceded in death by his parents, Ali and Khadija and brother, Aftab and is survived by his two children, Jamil (Laura) and Nadia (Heather) and former spouse, Janice; grandchildren, Marlise, Lukas, Avery and Esmay; siblings, Talim, Rasheida, Zobida and Ferida.
As Aleem loved children, we ask that in lieu of flowers donations be made in his name to his most beloved cause, the IWK Children’s Hospital. The family would like to extend sincere gratitude towards the staff at Hospice Halifax who provided such loving care during Aleem’s final days.
In keeping with Aleem’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A celebration of his life will be held at a later date.
