Obituary of Ray William Heckbert
67 years – Ray passed peacefully at the Colchester Hospital in Truro, NS on Monday, April 18, 2022. Ray was born in Summerside, PE on Sep 10, 1954, the son of Ernest and the late Velda (Parsons) Heckbert. Devoted husband of Nancy (Jenkins) Heckbert. Loving father of Shawna Heckbert (David Whitford) and Melissa Heckbert (Chris Andrews). Adoring grandfather of Kiera Perry, Dominic and Chelsey Andrews. Brother of John (Mary), Mary (Gary) Arsenault, Norma (John) Wall, Dan (Linda), Paul, Susan Christensen, Cathy (Bill) Gallant and the late Ernie (Patty). Son-in-law of Joyce Jenkins. Brother-in-law of Linda Boswell, Sherry (John) MacLeod, David (Colleen) Jenkins and Joanne Campbell. Uncle of many nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by his beloved granddaughter Savanna Andrews, mother Velda Heckbert, brother Ernie Heckbert, father-in-law Charles Jenkins, brothers-in-law Albert ”Ab” Boswell and Michael “Mike” Campbell.
Ray was a loving and devoted family man who enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, who were his pride and joy. He had a passion for photography and a creative talent for designing and building Bluetooth speakers. Ray spoke fondly of his time with Radio Shack, and the many friends and memories made with his “Shack” family from British Columbia to Prince Edward Island. With Ray’s easygoing, giving, and friendly personality he was admired, respected, and loved by many friends and colleagues as well as his family. He will be greatly missed by all.

** There will be another Celebration of Life and burial for Ray in PEI, for friends and family in early Fall. Tentative date is Sep 10 22. Details will be given when finalized.
