Obituary of Howard Thomas Blackmore

With broken hearts we announce the passing of our dear Dad and Husband, Howard Thomas Blackmore on February 5, 2023.

Dad was born on October 23, 1947 in Halifax, Nova Scotia to the late Eneas and Jessie Blackmore.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years Pauline Blackmore (Joudrey) Middle Sackville, his daughter Kathy Creelman (Darrell) Saint Lazare, Quebec, sons Howie Blackmore (Mary) Calgary, Alberta, and Steven Blackmore Middle Sackville.  He is also survived by his brother and best friend Tom Blackmore (Linda) Dartmouth; grandchildren, Michael Creelman (Michelle Fraser), Nicolas Blackmore (Hilary Carter), Tyler Blackmore, and his only granddaughter Sara Blackmore.  He was predeceased by his parents and brother, Fraser Blackmore.

He was adored by his grandchildren, Michael, Nicholas, Tyler, and Sara. They all shared a special bond with their granddad, and he was so proud of each of them and loved them all so much.

Dad was always a very compassionate, caring, gentle, and quiet man.  The only time he became loud is when you put an accordion in his hands, playing at family parties and special holidays.  In his early years he worked at Maritime paper, and then for 26 years alongside his brother at the Halifax Volvo assembly plant.  After leaving Volvo he worked for Moirs and HRM before retiring and then back to work part time during his retirement years alongside his brother again at Maritime Stress.

Special thank you to our brother Steven who was there by his side with our mom every day and to our Uncle Tom and Aunt Linda for all their support to make dads wish possible, to stay home in his final days.

We invite all to join us on Saturday, February 18th at 2PM at All Saints Anglican Church, 1408 Bedford Highway for a celebration of Dads life.  Bishop Sue Moxley officiating.  We will all have the opportunity to share memories and stories together.  If you so desire, donations may be made to a charity of choice.
