Obituary of Terry Maurice Verge

It is with great sadness that we mourn the passing of Terry Maurice Verge on March 9, 2023.

Terry's early years were spent working in auto industry doing autobody repair and painting. After many years, he decided to change careers and moved into construction. He worked with Dexters Construction for 15 years driving off-road equipment before retiring and settling into his Lazyboy chair at home.

Terry spent many years travelling with "Lovey" on the motorcycle. They spent many years exploring the Atlantic provinces and most of USA, travelling as far as Texas. One of his many yearly motorcycle trips was with friends to the bike races in Loudon, NH, where they partied from here to New Hampshire and back again meeting friends along the way. Stories from these weekends will live long into the future.

He was an avid auto racing fan and every weekend you could find him watching Nascar racing on TV while he and Martin made race calls from their own "pit boxes" at home. Terry's favorite vacations consisted of travelling to New Hampshire with family and friends to watch a live race where he met many life long friends. His extensive knowledge of Nascar was known to many and he quite often could recite racing facts from the last 40 years. Each year he would host a Daytona 500 party at the house with anyone who wanted to attend.

Terry enjoyed a few drinks with friends over the years. He had plenty of good times, a good many laughs and made some amazing memories in the local pubs around Sackville dating as far back as 1973. His jokes were legendary, often off-color, and I'm sure repeated by many.

Terry enjoyed all the country classics. He spent many hours listening to Newfie 30 on the radio, while taping it to enjoy repeatedly throughout the week. He left his collection to his wife and family so they could continue to enjoy the music he loved.

He will be missed by family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of his company, especially his amazing grandchildren Abby and Joel, who he cherished.

He is survived by wife of 56 years Jeanette (King), daughter Sheree (Kirk Lively), son Cameron (Heather DeCoste), granddaughter (Abby) and grandson (Joel). Also survived by siblings Gary (Jean), Howard (Marjorie), Barry (Barb), sister-in-law Diane Laybolt (Ricky), and his many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents Maurice and Effie (Northcott), father and mother-in-law Jim and Sarah King (Bugden), sister-in-law Sandra Verge, and nephew Randy Verge.

Special thanks to Dr. Rendon, Liette, and all the nurses on 7A at the VG Hospital.

Cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life gathering will be held at Maritime Cremation Centre on Saturday, March 18 from 2:00 - 4:00 pm. A graveside service for family will be held at St. Andrews Cemetery, Sheet Harbour on Sunday, March 19.
