Richard Philip Gilroy
1961-2023

With profound sadness, we announce that Richard Philip Gilroy passed away suddenly on Thursday, March 23, 2023 at the age of 61. Rick was born in Amherst, Nova Scotia, to Mary Elizabeth (Trenholm) Gilroy and the late Elmore Cecil Gilroy.

Rick will be forever remembered for his kind heart and giving nature. His life was centered around his beloved family and many close friends. He adored his wife, two daughters and grandson.

Rick graduated from Amherst Regional High School in 1980 and Acadia University in 1985. Rick spent 25 years working with Imperial Tobacco,retiring in 2016. He has since worked in sales and merchandising for Conagra Brands. Rick was an avid camper and loved snowmobiling from a young age. You could either find him on the snow trails or in his garage polishing his Ski Doo.

Rick is survived with great love by his wife of 31 years, Rebecca (MacDonald) of Fall River, his mother Mary Elizabeth of Amherst, his daughters Hilary (Peter) of Halifax, Stephanie (Spencer) of Halifax and grandson Weston. Sisters Katherine (John) of Fall River and Charlene (David) of Prince George, British Columbia. Rick will be deeply missed by his nieces Olivia, Jessie and Laine, nephew Peter, sisters and brothers in law as well as his many cherished friends. He was predeceased by his father, Elmore Gilroy.

Cremation has taken place. A celebration of life will take place on Friday, March 31, 2023 at 2:00 pm at Maritime Cremation Centre, 67 Temple Terrace, Lower Sackville. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia.
