MaryLou and I are very saddened to learn of Sandra’s passing. Through various events and many chats on messenger, I got to know Sandra who like me, was living with the ravages and challenges of ALS. She was so happy to become a grandmother when Charlie was born. Sadly, ALS throws more challenges to the pALS and their caregivers and changes can happen so rapidly it is hard to plan activities or events as changes are thrust upon the person with ALS (pALS) so quickly, that preparing for changes can become overwhelming. Despite all of Sandra’s challenges, she had a formidable spirit, no matter the despair or adversity she felt, she always took time to make her friends feel welcome and important. She had a golden heart. She had mentioned to me just days ago she was looking forward to going to her and Franks get away trailer in Cape Breton.
Heaven gained an Angel last Monday when Sandra left her physical body behind ravaged by the encumbrances ALS instils constant limitations on the body. Her compassionate spirit and caring and wellbeing of others was always on the forefront of her mind. An exceptional nurse she was!
MaryLou and I express our deepest sympathy and condolences to Frank, Katelyn, Ryan and Charlie. We are sorry for your loss and we hope the many wonderful memories will help ease the grief you are going through. In Soul, Sandra is now free from the limitations ALS imposed on her life. May the blessings be.

Dear Family of Sandra,
I’ve had the privilege to meet Sandra and family several times at her Mom’s and my Dad’s home in Orleans. Bruce and I were able to meet up again at Sandra and Frank’s home in NS. We have fond memories of your kindness and welcoming spirits.
Our hearts are heavy - she will be so missed! There is definitely an Angel watching over her family joining her Dad.
We pray for strength, love, and comfort during these difficult times.
Blessings
Barbara and Bruce Moore

From all the staff at Central Nova Scotia Correctional Facility. We offer our deepest and most sincere condolences for your loss. Sandra was a much loved part of our team, with a huge smile and personality to match. I have very fond memories of Sandra, who was particularly warm and welcoming to me when I first started here at Central in 2019, and this news will greatly affect everyone who knew her. We have lowered our flags to half-mast as a sign of respect to a person who was and will always be sorely missed. May she rest in peace. Superintendent Adam Smith.

I’ve really been struggling trying to find the words to convey my feelings about Sandra, what she meant to me and how she impacted my life. I started a career as a correctional officer scared shitless and alone, I met the nurses at the Jail and thought, man, these are some bad ass women holding it down. There are people within the walls that maintain a level of positivity, laughter and bring joy, she was one. She brought me comfort and solidarity as a woman in a male dominant work environment, she brought me compassion when I needed a mom at my lows, she responded to medical codes providing a steady and sure hand at the worst of times and gave advice, encouragement and guidance as a I transitioned to being a mom myself . The giggles, snacks and chats over food in the lunchroom were valued beyond measure, especially when they involved giving Stacy the gears. My thoughts are with her friends and family, she spoke of you often and you were a source or pride and joy for her.

Well Sandra you are off on another adventure! I know your dad was waiting with open arms.
You will never be forgotten and I am so grateful for the time we spent together with the ladies on our motorcycles. I am forever grateful that you always had meds close by for Tom. We would laugh so hard about that one. Keep Riding!
I will miss you friend! Love Cambee
