Roxanne MacDonald

Obituary of Roxanne Marie MacDonald

It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of Roxanne Marie MacDonald (Murphy), age 71 of Lucasville NS, on September 7th, 2024.

Born in Halifax NS, she was the beloved daughter of the late Robert and Nancy (Carmichael) Murphy.  Roxanne was predeceased by her brother Robert (Joy) Murphy of Timberlea. Surviving by her loving husband and best friend of 47 years, James MacDonald and by her beloved daughter, Tara MacDonald. She is also survived by ‘the sparkle in her eye’, her grandson, Brayden MacDonald. Roxanne is survived by her loving siblings, Valerie (Creighton) Brisco, William (Deborah) Murphy and Shauna (Ross) LeBlanc.  Roxanne was a loving daughter, wife, mother, nanny, sister, sister-in-law, aunt, cousin and friend. She had a special place in her heart for her many nieces and nephews whom she loved so dearly.

Roxanne was well-known in the community of Timberlea as a Hairdresser. She co-owned, with her Mother Nancy Murphy, the hairdressing shop ‘Hairs Our Place’ and then she worked from her shop in Glengarry Estates subdivision. She took pride in her work but even more pride in building valuable, lasting relationships with her clients and friends throughout the years.

Roxanne will be fondly remembered by her unique sense of humor and her ability to tell stories. Whether fact or fiction, she silenced any room with her impromptu storytelling abilities. Her laugh was infectious, and it wasn’t uncommon for a story to be left unfinished because she laughed so hard she couldn’t make it to the end.

Roxanne and Jim would spend most of their waking hours together. Almost daily, they would go for drives to their favourite spot at Point Pleasant Park. They would spend hours each week overlooking the ocean and watching the ships sail in the harbor. Jim & Roxie had a special bond and a beautiful friendship.

Roxanne will forever reside in our hearts. As we grapple with the loss of her physical presence, we find solace in knowing that her spirit lives on and memories remain deep in our hearts. A special thanks to Tarra Comeau of Paramed, for her special care and love throughout the past few years.

Cremation has taken place under the care of Maritime Cremation Centre. A service will be held on Thursday, September 26th, 2024 at 2pm at Rock Church, 222 Sackville Drive, Lower Sackville, with Pastor Mark Miller presiding. Reception will follow.
