Randy mentored me in the HVAC trade. I was his apprentice from my first day in the trade until I achieved my Red Seal certification. Randy was instrumental in launching my career that took me to the top of the industry throughout the United States. Randy was a mechanical artist, and there when you needed him. As we travelled the province together at work, that dam Gord, hunting, Jane, fishing, Jane, it’s Friday, Jane, my pheasants, Jane, the conversations went something like that. I returned from the U.S. last week, after 30 years of being away. When I found out Randy had passed and not so long ago, I was deeply saddened. Randy was one of the first CATS, I wanted to look up when I got back to Nova Scotia. It’s been a week since I found out, and I’m still a bit shakin. I take comfort knowing that Randy and Jane were still together and that to this day, my work reflects his invaluable training.
My name is also Randy. We would show up at service calls and jobs, as Randy and Randy, or as our boss called us, “Randy and my other brother Randy”
God Speed KAT.

Dear Cane family. Sorry to hear of Randy's passing and my sincere condolences. Randy and I shared a lot of fond memories as young men ( some not so, lol ). " What's happening cat (s)" was how he greeted me and others way back in the day. My folks adored him and welcomed him to our home like one of their own. Although we lost touch after I moved out west, the memories remain. We had a time !!

To the Cane Family: My sincere condolences with Randy's passing. Although our paths went different directions after school we spent a lot of time in the woods in our earlier years. We were the first kids to get pellet guns as well as shot guns and spent a lot of time hunting together. I thought you may get a needed chuckle out of the picture that I added.

Jayne and Rebecah: You don't know me but Randy took care of the HVAC systems in our office building on Argyle Street for 34 years. I always knew that when he was in to solve a problem, I would NOT have to call him back. He was thorough, honest and a good teacher. I am so very sad to hear of his passing and wish you both peace at this difficult time.
